Clarkson Cup and Higley Hustle

Successful weekend for the Golden Knights. We started the weekend off on the far side of the Hig for the 1st annual Clarkson Sprint Cup race. We lost some of our team to a race in Maine (Matt Delaney, Justin Tetlow, Chris Talbot, Whitney Olson, and Sarah Gardner). This opened the door for some others to step up. We did it skate style and did a time trial first. Based on places we did a three wave semis. The girls had a final between Chels and Alicia. Chels came home with the Victory to Win the first Clarkson cup. Pictured below. More Pictures to come from the races thanks to her. For the guys, Andy, Brain, and myself made it to the A final. Drew "Shag" Mahoney came home as winner of the B Final. Not to exclude the strong showing by Adam.... (New Recruit maybe?) For the A Final, I tried to get out to a strong start due to narrow trails and a tight first turn. We were all right on eachother for the first lap taking it easy. When we got to the last hill I went for it. As a gap began, and I was pulling away, Brain and Andy got tangled up. I wanted to continue to push to get a hard workout in. Then the real battle began.... Andy and Brain fought to the line. As the finish line came near... Andy pulled it out. We were all looking for a boot slide.
The next day was the imfamous Higley Hustle. Last year was won by a Norwiegn..... That is how great this race is. This year there was a much bigger turn out as most of our team came with most of the SLU team as well and no Andy that was not their Club Team. For the Men the mass started went off and was full of excitment. Brain Pepper from SLU stab his ski and almost caused a crash. Andy and I jumped out and joined the SLU pack. Andy decided it would be fun to take the lead for a bit as well. As we went into the woods, Andy and I came together. As the Little kids were falling all around we managed to get through it. Everyone looked really good and strong up the last hill to the finish. Congrats to everyone.

The Maine people did well. Their results can be found at http://www.chisholmskiclub.org/chisholm_results/2007-08/07-08_results_frameset.htm

Also the results form the USCSA League Race can be found on the Results section of the page. I suggest to sheck it out. All for now... Keep skiing and get ready for Lake Placid!!!
